PRESS RELEASE

17/04/2008

The Cambrils Tourism Board was recently in Madrid to present the resort town as one of the best coastal options, and one of the closest to Madrid, for holding corporate events. The presentation was part of a promotional action carried out by the Tourism Board of the Tarragona Provincial Government.

The event took place from 7:30 pm to 12 midnight at Hotel Puerta de América in Madrid, a singular establishment in which each floor was designed by a different, internationally renowned architect (Norman Foster, Arat Isozaki, etc.).  The setting imbued the event with added class.

The activity was aimed at more than 600 contacts, including sales and marketing directors at major Madrid-based firms (pharmaceutical companies, automotive companies, etc.), professional convention planners, specialised agencies and public relations agencies.

According to the organisation, a 12-minute video was shown during the event offering images of the town tied to the meeting and convention tourism product. Testimonies from satisfied clients who have held events in Costa Daurada were likewise shown. The event moreover included a wine tasting co-hosted by the sommelier Juan Antonio Herrero, winner of the Torres Quiz Master 2004 competition, and the expert cocktail mixer José Luis Samitier, semifinalist in the 2007 European cocktail juggling challenge and creator of the delicious Costa Daurada cocktail.

To round off the encounter, the Cambrils Tourism Board and its partner companies raffled off a stay in Costa Daurada. The winners received a free stay at Hotel Tryp Port Cambrils.

According to Ana López, Town Councillor for Tourism, participating in these types of events is important, as Cambrils must work to promote itself throughout the country as an ideal business and convention destination, too.
